Progressive Approaches to Online Publishing (tbd)

Advancements in digital technology and the web are breaking down the barriers of traditional publishing, revolutionizing how we create and distribute content. However, the contemporary web often drifts away from its initial promise. Today's internet environment is increasingly standardized and commercialized, where algorithms and linear interfaces often induce passive consumption rather than creative interaction.

In this shifting landscape, we turn our attention to art creators who explore the web in unique and autonomous ways. How are they questioning established conventions and seeking out autonomous modes of expression? How are they reimagining the role of the web within their practice, and what kind of medium do they perceive the web to be? Based on current limitations and constraints, we explore what other potentials and directions the web holds.

This book captures the critical and experimental practices of artists, writers, designers, developers, and publishers who are navigating this complex terrain. Through these interviews, we aim to showcase inventive strategies that resist homogenization and spark meaningful conversations about the online publishing in the digital age. The project will be published in a book, with selected portions also available on our accompanying website.
